No longer content to suffer under the yoke of the dragons, the divine races (as they were known) rose up in defiance of their rule. It started with small outbreaks of violence and unrest and quickly gathered pace into a full fledged rebellion. Though the dragons and their dragonborn were fierce, they were few, and the divine races number in the millions. Over a period of 50 or so years, dragons were ousted from their lairs and slain by heroes, new (for the time) developments in siege weaponry or in some cases sheer weight of numbers. Soon, there were only a few dragons known to exist in the world, and the dragonborn had been driven off, likely into hiding somewhere. With the last few years of the Pride War, as it was then known, the eminent heroes and leaders of the divine races sought to destroy every last member of dragonkind.
