The Pride War
Nearly 900 years ago, the Empire of Iserra did not exist. There was no central government of man, but instead disparate towns that were allowed to exist at the whims of the evil tyrants of the time. Dragonkind, both the half-breed Dragonborn and the purely evil Dragons, were the power of the day and they ruled over the world in with their great and terrible power.
Little is known of the time of the founding of the Empire, but that which is is universally the same – the peoples of Versania rose up and, helmed by a number of human heroes, they threw down the powerbase of the prideful lizards. Many people and dragonkind were killed in those days and the wars were terrible to behold. What is known is the name of the first Emperor - Assaudon Dragonbane whose final kill, a golden beast called Ignax, still adorns the throne room of the Empire in the form of a skull.
Time has healed much of damage caused by the war, and the rightful Empire of Iserra now rules with benevolence over all the people within its borders. This is despite the relatively recent conclusion of the Purge, the events of which have removed all evil creatures from the world of Versania for good.
