Cell's Bells
Session 1
Following a series of unfortunate events, the characters found themselves locked away in the cells of the Wallowdale Stockades. They were all awaiting the attentions of the next Cavalier of the Order, who didn’t seem to have time for your crimes for a few days at least. As time passed in the cells, some of you realised that your magics did not work there, and that an overnight spell was in place to try and enforce sleep.
An elderly prisoner was identified as well, who was discovered trying to dig his way out of the prison. After several methods were tried for escape, one of the nights proved different from the rest. A heavy padding was heard through the stone ceiling and muffled screams before pitch black falls that even those who can normally see couldn’t penetrate. You could only hear but what you could was disturbing – the screams continued in fits and bursts and were coming closer.
Then the squeal of metal under protest, a loud bang and heavy padding footsteps were followed by the screams of your guards as they are cut down, and dashed throughout the room. When the lights returned to normal, the guards were dead on the floor and the old man’s cell was damaged enough for him to slip out. Convincing him to collect and pass you the keys, and terrifying him in the same moment, he scrabbled out of the now open door at speed. Moments later, a *click* *shk* *thump* is heard.
Setting yourselves free, you discovered numerous items in the room, including a keyring with 9 keys, a mysterious note, a small vial of reddish liquid and the old man’s bag, which turned out to quite a handy tool. Emptying the bag and filling most of the guard room with soil and stone, you ventured out into the corridor.
Searching around, you found around 100lbs of potatoes (which went straight into the bag) and some assorted goodies, before finding (and annoying everyone) with a guard bell trap. As the bell continued to ring out, you found a Guard who was pointing his crossbow at another exit, ignoring the bell. Leaping into action, you quickly subdued the guard, though not in a particularly quiet manner.
